Safety at night in Glasgow?

Our ( husband and wife) flight out of Glasgow is at 6 am. Will be staying at Radisson Blue and plan to walk couple of blocks to catch express bus. But I question how safe that will be at 3 a.m. Anyone have advice? I could always call a taxi.

Hi, hhess,

There are certain parts of Glasgow where I would be apprehensive about walking about at 3:00 a.m. Where your hotel is located is certainly not one of them. However, if you are at all concerned, then by all means arrange for a taxi.

If you are staying at the Radisson for a couple of nights, you could do a "dry run" in the late evening (sans luggage, of course), just to test the waters.

Best wishes for a good flight!

I can't speak for 3am, but your hotel is across the street from Motel One where we stayed in June and we never felt unsafe when we walked to the bus at about 6am. It's about a 5 minute walk and the bus stop is across the street from a Hotel Indigo. Best bet is to get an opinion from someone at your hotel once you get there.

You should be ok, Glasgow is not a dangerous city but it is not a safe one either.. At 3AM most of the ne'erdowells will be long gone home, however at 3AM most of the rest of Glasgow will also be in bed.

I have looked at a map, it is just west of the Heilanman's Umbrella on Argyle Street, in the city centre which at 3AM is very quiet as not many people live there. I would suggest therefore you get a taxi. I doubt it would be needed, but you do NOT want to count on my doubt. I live in the Glasgow area and would not be walking there at that time, not due to safety exactly more due to it being 3AM in an empty city.
