Is it possible to a tour for tickets and transportation for Military Tattoo from the Cruise port in Glasgow? (Greenock) The cruise ship for August is already sold out for this excursion..

Many thanks for any help..

Not sure of your dates... you can always check at https://www.edintattoo.co.uk/tickets. You can also look at www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com/ as they often offer alternatives to the cruise line tours.

Another option is to work with a private company - like Queen of Clubs, Noteworthy, Sincerely Paul, etc. - that can coordinate private car & driver, tickets, etc.

Just a warning - Glastonbury festival is 6 weeks before the Tattoo and has been cancelled this week. Scotland is more Covid cautious than England, so there’s a fair chance that it won’t happen this year.

Will your cruise company allow you to take a tour they do not run?? As part of their COVID rules to limit the spread many cruise lines are not allowing independent touring (and to increase their profit).

The cruise line tour of Military Tattoo is sold out. If they will not allow us to take a tour from another company how do they expect anyone to get off the ship. They have more passengers than they have tour tickets. what about ppl that walk around on their own? i did look up that there is a train to Military Tattoo. But it is over 2 hours. Starting to think it might not be a good idea.

any other suggestions?

You had better look up the cruise line travel conditions and read the fine print. Even then you should call and ask. Many cruise lines do not let anyone off the ship to go anywhere on their own. You either go on a cruise sponsored tour or stay on the ship. When you are on one of their tours you must stay with the tour, no wandering.

Only other thought, exert pressure on the cruise to procure more tickets. The tattoo is well worth experiencing, but it was a cool night with a strong breeze when we were there.... pack light gloves and a thin wool scarf (.we are hearty iowans.... but think of a cool night at a football game)

I appreciate that. I am a Floridian and I have to keep reminding myself this is not a trip to Disney or the Caribbean. Hubby is not crazy about the long ride over to Military Tat anyway.. We are going to Inveraray Castle on the 12th and that is a long bus ride.. Any suggestions for a short day in Glasgow instead on the 11th?

I sure hope you are making 'no deposit' or truly 'refundable' reservations, for all the bits and pieces of your hoped for cruise/trip in August.
