What time do the shops close on the Royal Mile?
Please suggest some traditional or historic pubs for first time visitor who likes beer, please.
Any suggestions for 2 or 3 star B&B.hotel within walking distance from the Royal Mile?
I need suggestions for first time visitor who will be traveling during the morning and late afternoon but wants to experience the most one can in Old Edinburgh in the evening.

For historic, I would say Deacon Brodie’s Tavern or the World’s End Tavern. We also had drinks at the Jolly Judge in a close right off the Royal Mile close to the castle. I don’t know closing times, but they seemed to be open pretty late.

We just returned from 3 day in Edinburgh.
Most pubs closed between midnight and 1 am.
Shops 7-8 pm.
We loved our stay at this VRBO - right in the heart of the Royal Mile and 2 blocks from the castle.
