Rosslyn Chapel question

We will be in Edinburgh for three nights and two and a half days next July and are just starting to put together an itinerary for a day out (or not). We will be arriving after spending the day before at Doune and Stirling Castles. We have read it's worth seeing Rosslyn Chapel and it is just a short bus ride away, but given the short time in Edinburgh, is it worth it? We have ruled out any other tours out of Edinburgh, as they are all too time consuming, taking time away from Edinburgh. Thank you!

It is under renovation so ck the website to see the status. We went by car after seeing lockerby memorial on our way to hadrians wall. I enjoyed it but really would not go out of my way to see it if it had not been convenient.

This depends on what other things you want to visit while in Edinburgh and how much time you're willing to take away from those things. I think you are the only one who can say whether it is truly "worth it" for you to visit Rosslyn chapel. I visited the chapel several years ago and really enjoyed it, but others might not feel the same way. I was staying in Edinburgh and actually took the train to Stirling that morning to see the castle, returned to Edinburgh that afternoon and went to the chapel all in one day. We took a taxi to Rosslyn because we were concerned about getting there by 4pm in order to have a whole hour to look around before closing time and weren't sure how long the bus ride would be, but we took the bus back into the city after. (I don't even remember how long the bus ride was coming home. To be honest it was raining and we sat on the top floor of the bus and had a total blast looking at the scenery so it didn't feel very long.) To me, it was worth the trip even though it was a long and busy day because I enjoyed visiting the chapel and I didn't want to miss it, but others might not agree. I would suggest making a list of the things you "absolutely must do" while in Edinburgh and estimate how much time those things will take. Then make a list of things that would be nice to do if you have time and fill those things in where you can. Only you can know where Rosslyn falls on your priority list and if it's a must do for you then I say go for it. Or if not this time you can always go back to Edinburgh and stay for longer next time.

I certainly think it is worth visiting and takes about 45 minutes by bus from the city centre .All major renovations have been done and the huge canopy that covered the building for many years has been removed.
The whole area has some very interesting history the most recent of which is the fact that Dolly the Sheep was created in the nearby Roslin Institute now part of Edinburgh University.
