Restaurant recommendation for Edinburgh and Glasgow

Hi: We will be in Scotland end of May and would like to eat at nice places in Edinburgh and Glasgow but without totally breaking the bank (as with Michelin star places). We will eat any food. Recommendations appreciated!

I enjoyed Baba last time I was in Edinburgh BABA
Efficient and friendly service and very tasty food. It's just off Charlotte Square.

A bit more spendy but a really wonderful place in Stockbridge is Purslane

Aizle is very good (fine dining/haute cuisine) - and within the same hotel as Baba, but much more expensive than Baba.

Our favorite place to eat in Edinburgh is a place we discovered a number of years ago and we've had many memorable meals there. It is Maison Bleue at 36 Victoria St. which is off George IV Bridge St. which is just off High St. (The Royal Mile) close to the castle. Go to googlemaps.com, type in the address, and you'll be able to locate it easily. You may be able to use the street view to "walk" to it before leaving home. You can't miss the bleue façade. We've never had a problem being seated at lunch, but dinner reservations are advised. Small place, same ownership for years, and excellent food.

HI there was a recent thread about good restaurants in Edinburgh. It would help to know your actual budget. We had a wonderful meal at the Gardner's Cottage. I've also had a lovely meal at the Stac Polly in Newtown quite a few years ago. If you like seafood, Fisher's restaurants are great. I have also had good meals at the Mussel Inn in New Town. Speaking of New Town, enjoyed a meal at The Printing Press a few years back. There are lots of great restaurants in Edinburgh. For lunch in Glasgow look for the Willow Tea Rooms. :)

If you want some good food at lunchtimes, most of the Museums and Galleries have amazing cafes with home made soups, ...and the baking...MMM!

Ox and Finch in Glasgow. The prime dinner times book up in advance, but we were able to walk in for a weekday lunch no problem.
