We will be traveling in early May, taking the train to Kyle, and then need to rent a car for three days on Skye. We then must return the car to Kyle and find transportation to Iverness. We cannot take the train to Iverness because our outbound flight leaves early. Where can we rent a car in Kyle? How can we get from Kyle to Iverness?

I would compare the cost of picking up and dropping off in Kyle to a one-way rental, dropping off in Inverness. There is usually a fee for dropping a car off somewhere else, but it’s worth looking into.

You might want to rethink your plan.
You can take bus or train to Inverness. Plan on heading to Inverness the night before your flight departs.

You definitely won't find a one way car rental from a Kyle or Skye based company which will allow you to drop off in Inverness, so you are correct to be looking at public transport to get you to Inverness. Morar Motors are a small garage in Kyle (and Mallaig) who do rentals. There a bus (Citylink) or train (Scotrail) from Kyle to Inverness. There are bus and train links out to the airport. You will almost certainly need to be in Inverness the night before your flight. There's a Marriott Courtyard hotel at the airport.

If you drove up to Skye from Glasgow you'd be able to find a company to drop off in Inverness. Arnold Clark is recommended by others on this forum, and most of the big chains should have offices in both Glasgow and Inverness.
