Recommendations for Walking Tour Guide In Edinburgh

My family (four of us, kids are 14 and 13) will be in Edinburgh in about a month and we would like to book a guide for a walking tour. We are hoping to find someone that can provide a fun and educational experience. High energy is not a problem. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Have you checked into Rabbie's? they offer "custom" tours, a simple email to them with your request and you might find a city guide.
Also when you are there, on the Royal Mile, there are several companies that offer city tours. I don't have the names handy, didn't really pay attention, since we weren't interested in a city walking tour. We did the castle and Holyrood Palace and Calton Hill by ourselves using the audio headset guide.

Edinburgh Tour Guides is recommended in the RS book. Unfortunately we weren't able to take their tour because it was all booked up on the day we wanted to go. It turned out to be a very rainy day, so the tour might not have been all that enjoyable for us! In any case, take a look http://www.edinburghtourguides.com/

We have booked a full-day walking tour with a guide named Bill Hill. He and his partner Cammy have a tour company

I saw their names in a travel blog and then I read some great reviews on tripadvisor. I cannot yet provide you with at review of our actual tour since we don't go until June, but I can tell you that Bill has been extremely responsive to all of my emails and strikes me as a very personable and knowledgeable man. Those who used Cammy also give him stellar reviews. The price we were quoted for a private full-day walking tour with the four of us was 220 pounds.

Thanks for the responses. I did attempt to contact Ken Hanley (recommended in the RS book) last week. I have not heard back from him yet. I have seen a couple of reviews that mention his lack of responsiveness. Another tour guide mentioned in the book is from Argentina. While he may be awesome, and I may sound narrow-minded for saying this, I would rather my Scottish tour guide be Scottish.

Anyone else with reviews for Edinburgh tour guides?

Perhaps find an official Blue Badge guide from https://www.stga.co.uk/

(I had a lovely unofficial tour of some of Edinburgh when meeting up with Unclegus, who posts on these boards, a few years back :-)

Thanks everyone for the advice. Especially Kim, since I decided on the same company she is using. We are booked with Cammy for a full day next month. Will report back to everyone here.
