Recommendations for places to stay in Edinburgh

I will be in Edinburgh for 2 days with my family mid July. Looking for mid priced places to stay does anyone have any recommendations? Many of the places I was interested in are booked on my dates.

tshel94335, have you been looking at Vrbo or Airbnb lodging, or hotels that are already booked?

You might find a workable solution faster by checking a website like booking.com to see what's available. If you come up with several possibilities that seem good to you, folks here can comment on them. Edinburgh is a very popular summer destination. Most of the places selective travelers will suggest to you (especially the ones that are good value for money) are probably going to be pretty full for July at this point.

That you're looking for only two nights may make this a bit easier, but you mentioned "family", and rooms larger than doubles aren't all that common. The Premier Inns often have rooms with one large bed plus a comfortable day bed (roughly the size of a twin) that can work for a family of three.

The other question is how you define "mid-priced". Perhaps if you share a budget we can make some recommendations.

We stayed at MotelOne Royal on a recent trip. The location is excellent, especially if you will be arriving and/or departing or taking day trips by train or bus. (The Airlink bus is quite close by as well.) Check the room dimensions when you book. Some rooms are very small. If you have a lot of luggage, it could prove tight, otherwise.

We have now twice stayed at Premier Inns, and I think they will be our first choice moving forward. The rooms seem more standard and are larger (based on our very limited experience). The hotels lack the cool vibe and interesting decor common to MotelOnes, but in choosing a hotel, we are far more concerned about location and reliable basics. There is a Premier Inn (maybe new?) sort of near the Scott Monument.

Enjoy Edinburgh!

I stayed at the Cheval Old Town Chambers Apartments and loved it. It operates like a hotel in an excellent location. We loved having all the extra room especially the kitchen and washing machine. We booked the one bedroom with extra bedroom alcove and it was perfect for multiple people.
