Realistic Day in Edinburgh

We have two days in Edinburgh on each side of our tour. The first one is arrival day so jet lag will be a factor. I know we can't stay on the bus long before hopping off or we'll fall asleep.

So, utilizing public transport or the Hop-on, Hop-off Bus, we are considering the following sites between 0900 and 1500. HMY Britannia is a priority, followed by the Botanic Garden, Holyrood House, and the Scottish Parliament. I'm guessing just two of these sites would be realistic in the time that we have.

On our second day we'll have all day to see what we can like the castle and National Museum of Scotland, and the Royal Mile. Maybe we can fit in something else.

Appreciate your thoughts.

The easiest two to do in the same day would be Holyrood House and the Parliament building since they are across the street from each other. I want to say we spent a couple hours in Holyrood palace and we didn’t walk around the gardens. Afterwards, if you wanted tea, less than a block up Canongate from Parliament is Clarinda’s tea room. It’s pretty small. We waited about 20 minutes to get it. We probably spent an equal amount of time on Britannia plus the time to get to it and return. If you only want to see either Parliament or Holyrood and Britannia, the bus bus stop that I previously mentioned for the #35 bus to ocean terminal is in front of Canongate church, 2/10 of a mile from Holyrood. You could see the palace, then pick up the bus to the yacht. The bus stop you’d want is on the church side of the street, almost directly in front of the church. The Museum of Edinburgh is across the street. As my wife and I had no interest in the Parliament building, we visited the other two.
