We would like to do an hour long tour of the Real Mary Close. Can anyone recommend a tour guide or company? I guess my real question is, has anybody done a toir that is historical- not hokey or ghost story?

We did the Real Mary Close tour when we were there about 7 weeks ago. The guides are actors who play the part of someone who lived in/had a connection to the Real Mary Close. We did have to make reservations. I think there is only the one company that gives tours. The tour is historical and I wouldn't classify it as a ghost tour. Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip.

Hi. When we were on a RS tour just a few weeks ago, everything was closed the last 3 days of our tour in Edinburgh because of the queen's death. Our tour guide had to scramble and he ended up booking us the Real Mary Close tour. I have to say they do a great job of bringing that time period to life. In fact, the plague room with the "plague family" made me feel sick to my stomach and I kind of wanted to push an escape button! The young actress who was our guide was enthusiastic and engaging.
