Thinking of doing this tour with a friend in September. Has anyone done this tour? They give you two options for accommodations- let them book for you or book on your own. If they book for you, you don’t know where you are staying until the start of the tour. Has anyone done it this way? I assume the places they book for people would have to be decent, but I don’t have anything to base that on. Would really appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
It's been a few years, but I let Rabbie's choose and had no complaints.
In May, I’m doing the 5-day Highland Explorer: Skye and Far North tour and had Rabbies book my accommodations. Even though I was looking several months in advance, I had difficulty finding anything in Portree.
I am booked for a Rabbie’s tour this coming May and let them arrange accommodations. I received my accommodations list this past November. One is a Rick Steve’s recommendation and gets good reviews on this forum.
I have two different 3-day tours with Rabbie’s booked for this year and I chose to book the accommodations myself.
I have read a few comments over the years about some people not being happy with the accommodations booked by Rabbie’s. It’s possible these tours were booked at the last minute and accommodations were limited.
I did not want to take a chance, so the less stressful option for me was to book my own hotels.
I checked with Rabbie’s first to make sure my hotels were within the range where they would drop me off and pick me up. Then, when I booked the tours, I added the info. about my booked hotels.
Enjoy the tour! Rabbie's is great. I have done a couple of day tours with them.
On our 5 day Rabbies tour, they booked one accommodation for us and it was a lovely B&B. We booked our other two nights because we wanted to use Hilton points for the nights in York.
Thanks so much for all of your replies! Based on your feedback, we are going to let Rabbie’s do the booking!
