Does anyone know if the Uber app I have on my phone in the States is the same one that will work in Edinburgh? Or will I need to download a new app?

Yes the app will work. However, personally I am not keen on Uber's business model so I have always used Edinburgh's extensive and easy to use public transport network (Lothian buses and the tram) or if I really needed to use a taxi, I have taken a black cab.

Same app! It locates you with GPS and then works exactly like it would at home. We were just in Edinburgh over the winter holidays and it worked just fine!

Good to know, but we used the black cabs and busses mostly. They were great and very easy.
