Wondered what recommendations you might have regarding travel insurance?

Heading from Pittsburgh PA to Scotland on the 8 day tour end of August .

Appreciate your perspectives

This is a great question. I'm glad you are asking.
Like most great questions, a few others have also asked it. You will probably find a great deal of information if you use the "search" feature on the travel forum and put in "travel insurance" or "trip insurance."

Look for the magnifying glass at the top of the travel forum home page to find the search engine.

Will you be considering full quarantine insurance covering all added hotel expenses, food expenses, change of airfare expenses, etc.?

I bought travel insurance after visiting this website (Squaremouth) that was recommended by others on another thread elsewhere on this site.

Hello. My husband and I traveled extensively throughout our marriage and never bought travel insurance. As we got older, I insisted. We were glad I did when we had to cancel a trip to Scotland in August of 2019. A medical issue arose 2 days before departure. Everything was covered and filing the claim was not difficult. I will never travel abroad without trip insurance.

We get travel insurance for any unreimbursed portion of the trip, but mostly for the medical and medical evacuation coverage insurance provides. Normally we use Allianz, but on our recent Spain trip we bought it at the same time as we bought or airline tickets. It was through Travel Guard/AIG.

Most insurance plans will include evacuation coverage. However, read the fine print. Many will only evacuate you to the nearest facility that can meet your medical needs. There is a company named MedJet Assist that will bring you back to your home if you are hospitalized abroad. It is not medical insurance nor trip insurance, just evacuation insurance. They have a variety of plans so you might want to check them out. As always with insurance, the devil is in the details.

We purchased insurance for a recent trip to Scotland via the Squaremouth site (after I learned of it through this forum). In the future, I am considering buying a policy that would cover more than one trip over a 12-month period. It is the evacuation and repatriation of remains (serious emergency) insurance in which I am primarily interested. Will keep checking this and other forums. There is always good advice here.
