Puck's Glen is closed. Is there a similar place to visit as an alternative?

I was really hoping to visit Puck's Glen, but the trail was seriously damaged in that big winter storm, it looks like it will be closed all year. Are there any similar places we could go to instead? It looks like Glenbranter trail is at least partially open, so maybe that is my best option, but I've no first hand knowledge. If there are any other trails in the area that people are aware of and might recommend, I'd love to hear!

Hi, Claire89,

It's probably a bit out of your way, but you'd enjoy Dollar Glen. The path starts from near the Academy. You can hike up one side of the glen, and back down the other. Near the top is Castle Campbell, which has a great overlook from the gardens.

Once you reach Castle Campbell, you can continue upward to visit Sochie Falls, and if you're not completely winded, you can carry on upward to visit King's Seat Hill.

It's possible to park near Castle Campbell, at the top of the central part of the glen, but the road up is not for the faint of heart, and only if you have nothing larger than a car.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes,

Mike (Auchterless)

Thanks Mike! We'll have a couple days near Stirling, so I'll try to visit Dollar Glen on that part of our trip.

Claire, Alva Glen is in that area too. My Mom grew up in Alva :-) Alva is along the main road that parallels the Ochil Hills on your way from Stirling to Dollar. You could check out both! The Inn at Muckhart just outside Dollar would be a fun historical pub/restaurant stop for lunch. Enjoy!
