Proposal Places ( Dublin and Edinburgh locations)

Hello everyone,

We have our flights book for a 3 Night in Dublin and 3 nights in Scotland.

How it worked with flights is we’re flying into Dublin for one night to start the trip. We’re staying at Clontarf Castle the first night. I looked at this place and I can’t tell if this is a good option or not for a proposal ?

But other places I’ve considered were the Guinness Factory or the official Red Temple Bar building.

The next morning we have a flight to Scotland ( where I’d rather ask to be honest). I’ve considered that Palace of Holyrood, the Highland Cow farm near Edinburgh, or randomly along the Royal Mile.

Wondering what everyone thinks or where else I should propose instead.

Thanks all !

Dependent on British weather, I’d say!

In Edinburgh, at the top of Calton Hill, overlooking the whole city…a good walk up first!
Roslyn Chapel, the grounds around it are nice.
Inside the Castle.
Reserve a lovely afternoon tea somewhere, then propose.
Let us know.

If you’re doing an overnight flight from North America I think you’ll be too exhausted when you are in Dublin to want to do too much. I would think the ramparts of Edinburgh Castle would be good if weather is nice…great views Ancient Castle etc. Holyrood house always puts me in mind of Mary Queen of Scots, murder and mayhem took place there and Mary ended up being executed. Of course hairy coos are adorable……great background for photos of the event.

This is very exciting! For me, Guinness Factory and Temple Bar are so crowded, it might spoil the moment. I agree Edinburgh is the best location of the ones you mentioned. My suggestion is to propose at the top of Arthur's Seat- it's a wonderful walk up there, you have perfect views (if the weather cooperates), and easy to get away from the crowds. Afterwards you can go celebrate with a pint at Sheep Heid Inn. If you wanted to propose on the Royal Mile I would pull off into one of the little closes off the main street for a bit of privacy. The castle ramparts, right in front of the entrance to castle, would be good as well. If it's not too crowed you also have the top of the Scott monument. Those are my suggestions as a former resident. Good luck!!

Cat's suggestion was the first one I thought of! Arthur's Seat if the weather is nice!

When are you traveling?

OR if your partner is a die-hard Paddington Bear fan....the Paddington bench in Saint Andrew Square in Edinburgh, although it is crowded at times.

Add Victoria Street to the mix in Edinburgh. It’s such a cool street. Are you or your partner fans of the coast? If so, there is a town a short 20 min train ride from Edinburgh called North Berwick. The coastline there is stunning. There’s a beach, and a walkway near the Scottish Seabird Center where you can walk up along the cliff side to the top to take it all in. To help me explain where it is, if you google the Scottish Seabird Center, you can see on Google Maps a landmark called The Lookout Cabin (Some people have posted photos from there so you can see how pretty it is) It’s a perfect spot to gaze out at the scenery, sea birds, and it was fairly quiet when we were there. It would be a perfect place to propose I would think. Congratulations on your future engagement!
