I will hike the Coast to Coast hike in northern England in June. On the way back I am interested in seeing the Border region as I have ancestors from clan Kerr. I will travel alone. Any advice on hiring a guide to drive me to the interesting sites? I want to spent one day.
I'm basically answering to "up" your question. Could you be more specific about where in the Borders you want to focus? It's a large region with lots to see and do, as indicated by this site https://www.visitscotland.com/destinations-maps/scottish-borders/
I am particularly interested in sites associated with Clan Kerr. These are in the Jedburgh area, I believe.
Since no one else has answered: I'd suggest you try calling the lodgings listed here < https://www.visitscotland.com/info/towns-villages/jedburgh-p244561 > and ask if they can recommend a driver. I'm sure they get these kinds of inquiries from potential customers who want to come and stay at the B&B or self-catering cottage, so they're likely to know someone, or possibly even provide driving service themselves.
Where will your Coast to Coast hike end up? Is it Newcastle, or ... ?
