Currently planning my 4th trip to Scotland; I am taking my boyfriend & his grandparents emigrated from Glasgow. I want to give him a more personalized tour than the HOHO bus. Has anyone hired a private car/taxi in Glasgow? Looking for at least a 1-2 hour fare.

Have you thought of taking a food tour? We did and had a great time. The Glasgow Food and Drink Tour was amazing; not only did we enjoy unique foods (Haggis with an Indian twist) and fabulous drinks, but we walked all through the West End and got a great history of Glasgow. I would like that tour; but my boyfriend specifically wants to visit Govan (where his grandparents were born/raised). That is not a 'touristy' area, and a bit on the dodgy side. I would like to try and secure a taxi for a couple hours. I've travelled throughout the UK/Ireland on my own, but this is his first trip. I don't want to be wandering around aimlessly in that neighborhood! Not sure if we should just flag down a cab and negotiate a flat fee or set this up in advance.
