private drivers

Considering getting drivers instead of renting in Scotland and Ireland but
so far prices seem to be real high. Anyone have somebody they have used?
thanks

What is a high price to you? How much are you prepared to pay? How does that stack up against local earning expectations (these are not poor countries). Does the driver need to stay all day and night with you? Are you feeding and accommodating the driver?

All great questions. We would likely want to hire for day, town to town as we go, so as not to incur the
understandable and deserved accommodations cost.

We used Inverness Custom Tours in Scotland. Our guide/driver Amanda was amazing. We learned a lot from her and she showed us things we would not have seen.

Distances between towns are significant and roads slow. You will be paying for the driver to get both to and back from the town you want to get to. Fuel costs are much, much higher than the USA too. One way, lomg distance taxis are unusual. There is for example nothing like Uber to do long journeys. Locals use public transport or their own vehicles for longer journeys. There is a good Citylink coach service between most major towns and a decent rail service too.
