Premier Inn Edinburgh City Centre Royal Mile hotel

Has anyone stayed at Premier Inn Edinburgh City Centre Royal Mile recently?

The overall reviews on TA and google seem to be good, over 4 stars on each, which is generally good enough for me. However, there seems to be a trend of many recent negative reviews saying that it's dirty, falling apart, poor service, etc. I don't need anything fancy or 5-star service, but I don't want to say somewhere filthy.

I'm staying in Edinburgh for 2 nights and love the location and am comfortable with the price, but wondering if it's worth it.

I live in Edinburgh so have not stayed in that Premier Inn but have stayed in many all over the Uk. They are always of a good standard, breakfast is usually extra. Tea and coffee making facilities will be in the rooms. The beds are very comfortable so much so about 18 months ago I actually bought one of their mattresses (brand new) I very much doubt it will be filthy, maybe a bit tired looking but there is no way a company with the good reputation that P I has that they would let standards slip much.

If you’re willing to consider another hotel, I just last month stayed at the Motel One Princes Street, and it exceeded my expectations. The hotel has just been refurbished and everything is brand new and super clean.

Having previously stayed on Market Street (at the Market Street hotel not far from the Premier Inn you are looking at), I actually prefer the Princes Street location. I really enjoyed being steps away from Princess Steet Gardens. And close to everything else too.

Motel One was my first choice. However, it's $200 more than the Premier Inn. That's my predicament, is it worth spending that extra $200 or would I be fine saving that money to spend elsewhere and choosing Premier Inn.

My stay was not recent, but I enjoyed my stay at Premier Inn York Place Hotel. Location was good, and just a few blocks from the train and bus stations.

Perhaps check out current reviews for this property as well.

We stayed there both at the beginning and end of our 2022 trip and it was fine. While there wasn’t always somebody at the desk, when we checked in we were told where we could get extra towels, etc., if we needed any. Unless things have changed I’d have no problem staying there again.

We thought it was in a good location just off the Royal Mile.

Hi, evclickner,

In the course of many trips to Scotland, I've never been disappointed with any lodging at Premier Inns, with the possible exception of Inverness West, which was looking a bit worse for wear last summer.

I would go with PI, save the $200.00, and splash out on a good meal (or two)!

Best wishes,

Mike (Auchterless)
