Preferred route from Inverness to Skye & Glencoe Valley trails/lodging

Any suggestions on the route from Inverness to Skye - A87 or A890 - A87. Is one route more scenic than the other? We would like to see Eilean Donan Castle on way to Portree.

Would like to add that on way back to Edinburgh we'd like to stop in Glencoe Valley for a walk/hike. Any suggestions on this area regarding trails and lodging?
Thank you!

We stayed at the HF Holiday's House Alltshellach, https://www.hfholidays.co.uk/country-houses/locations/glen-coe-scottish-highlands, which is across Loch Leven from the village of Glen Coe. They have guided and self-guided multi-day hikes but if there are extra rooms they do rent out for a night or two. I don't know how ambitious your are or how much time you have but from Kinlochleven, just up the road from Altshellach, you can pick up a portion of the West Highland Way. You follow the West Highland Way but bare off past a couple of stalking lodges and connect to the old military road then scramble down to a cute little waterfall. It's about a half day hike. Or you just walk up to the waterfall and back. Then you can ice climb at the largest indoor ice wall, https://www.ice-factor.co.uk/adventures/indoor-ice-climbing/.

Edit: From the village of Glen Coe there are a couple of very short, very easy walks. You can also hike/walk around Inchree Falls.
