Post Fringe Fallout?

We are hoping we didn't have a planning miss for our upcoming trip to Scotland. We will be in Edinburgh the 3rd and 4th of September, and I've read that some sites and quite a few restaurants are closed the week after Fringe to give their staff a chance to catch their breath.

Based upon prior years, does anyone have any experience how much will be closed?

This isn't something I've personally noticed- I used to live in Edinburgh, and I was actually there visiting the first week of September just last year. That's not to say there may not be things that are closed, but that it wasn't widespread enough for me to notice.

That's a welcome breath of relief!

We know it will be busy, and are prepared for that. We were contemplating last minute itenerary changes to Glasgow, but it really is too late for accommodation changes unless absolutely necessary.

I was also in Edinburgh just after Fringe last year. Everything seemed like business as usual and I've been to Edinburgh numerous times.

I'm also planning to be there after Fringe this year.

We were there last year right after the Fringe ended and did not observe any closures. All of the tourist sites, museums, etc., and all of the restaurants we intended to go to were open. Have a great trip!

I live in Edinburgh and have never noticed places being closed just after Festival season, what does happen is all the pop up venues and bars will close down and the city will go from being totally manically busy ( Edinburgh’s population doubles during the Festivals) to just really busy before the Christmas and new year Festivals get going.
