Planning trip to Isles of Mull, Iona, and Staffa

We are planning to spend one or more nights on Iona. Can we go to Staffa directly from Iona, or do we have to "connect" at Mull? Thanks for more great help on this forum!

Look at staffatours.com the offer tours from Iona. Or try Googling ferries Iona to Staffa as there are a couple of other options.

I took a wonderful boat ride from Iona to Staffa in a really beautiful wooden vessel! It was recommended to me by the hotel I stayed at (St Columba). I don't remember the name of the boat/tour - but it may be the only one that is directly from Iona. It was August and I had not pre-booked the trip. I just went to the boat and asked if they had room and they did. The ride over took about 1 hour and on a beautiful sunny day, it was so relaxing. They gave us at least 1 hour to explore but I'm thinking it was maybe 1.5 hours. There was plenty of time to go into Fingal's cave and also up top.

Pay the extra and add the trip to Lunga (Treshnish Isles). We enjoyed Staffa but Lunga was the real treat. It was like being David Attenborough for a few hours.

We spent four nights on Iona in June and loved our time there, at St. Columba's Hotel. Would recommend Argyll Hotel for quite excellent food although the food at St. Columba's is good also. I would encourage you to spend at least two nights on Iona to really get a feel for the place and to take some good hikes.

The company with the wooden boat that does trips to Staffa from both Iona and Mull is Staffa Trips. The boat starts in Iona, comes over to Mull (stops for maybe 10 minutes) and then heads to Staffa. On the return, it stops first at Mull (again, just long enough to drop people off) and then Iona. If you are staying on Mull and want to experience Iona, you can have Staffa Trips drop you and then buy a single journey ticket on the main ferry - which runs you less than 2 pounds.

Staffa Trips has a Facebook page with all their contact information on it.

Highly recommend!

Thanks to everyone for the help. Hoping we'll actually be able to fit this trip into our schedule as it takes quite a bit of time to get there from Edinburgh. But The Hebrides is my favorite piece of classical music and I would really like to see Fingal's cave!
