Piper's Tryst Hotel is in the RS book and gets good reviews on Booking.com, but I can’t find any postings in trip reports on the forum from people who have stayed there. Now that might not mean anything, but curious from those who may have stayed there or live in Glasgow of their opinion.
I stayed at the Piper's Tryst Hotel for 2 nights last year. I enjoyed everything about the hotel. The size (I think 6 or 8 rooms), the location (l took the bus from Heathrow to Glasgow and walked from the bus station to the hotel with rolling luggage and then when leaving walked to the train station), the room clean, nice size and I had view out front of street scene. The restaurant (I had breakfast and a late afternoon meal there both days. The food is very good, creative, and they give a discount to guests. The staff (very friendly). You are met at check-in with a wee dram. Loved it all.
Thank you for the review that’s what I’d hope to hear. I appreciated it.
It's a pretty weird name. Conjures all sorts of mental images...
They are using the old Scots word 'Tryst' in the same way as the music festival The Cumnock Tryst uses it- simply as a Meeting Place, rather than how the word is used now.
In the case of Cumnock it is used that way because of the Gaelic name for Cumnock- comunn achadh (the place of the confluence [of two rivers]
Makes for an interesting double entendre if you don't speak old Scots.
