This question is a bit off the wall, but my husband and I wanted to have our photos taken in period dress. We were thinking him in a kilt, and me in something of the same time period, but of the female variety. In the US, you have those photo places where you can dress up as mobsters or westerners. Does Edinburgh have anything similar? I know they have kilt dress up at the Tartan Mill. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance.

I know that they have costumes for kids at Historic Scotland sites, but I don't remember seeing anything other than the kilt dress up. If you don't hear from anyone here, it might be worth an email to VisitScotland Edinburgh. I bet that they would know. The link is to their contact info which includes an email link.

There used to be a place in Jeffrey Street just off the RoyalMile, if I get a chance at the weekend I will have a look and see if it is still there.

I went along Jeffrey Street this morning , no sign of that place I mentioned, looks like it is Whisky shop now.

Thanks for the ideas. I will definitely be doing some further research. It's not a must do thing for us, but I think it would be a fun and hilarious memento!
