I'm hoping someone can tell me if there is a parking app that can be used to pay for parking or do you need cash?
There’s pay parking now? For the Quiraing, at least several years ago, the lot was muddy from rain, but you just found a spot and parked. Of course, there weren’t as many Apps for things as now, either. There were a couple other places where we just pulled off the road, out of the way.
RingGo App seems to be a widely used one covers 150 Council Areas.
Pretty sure I paid cash up at the Old Man of Stoer last year .
They were just installing payment at Kilt Rock too
Payment is now required at several popular hiking spots on Skye. These include Fairy Pools, Quiraing, Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock. Not sure which app is used (if any) but pretty sure credit card payment is possible, although it would be sensible to have a stash of £1 coins with you just in case the card payments are not working. The payments are used to contribute to the cost of providing car parks, which enable safe parking and avoid the erosion of roadside verges.
When my husband and I were on Skye and did quite a bit of hiking last Sept., all the parking meters we came across took credit cards - and some only took credit cards/no cash. They are really easy! I downloaded a couple apps before arriving and didn't use any of them.
