Four of us are going to Scotland in September 2022 for 9 days. We plan to spend 3 nights in Edinburgh and then head to Oban, Isle of Skye, Inverness, Pitlochry and back to Edinburgh to fly out. Does anyone have any recommendations for staying overnight in a castle? Are they as lovely as they sound, or just not worth it? Are there any in the areas where we are traveling? We will have a car.

I second Dalhousie Castle. Stayed there 20 years ago and have another visit planned for next month.

Kincraig Castle Hotel, 24 miles north of Inverness just off the A9.

On our last trip my friend and I stayed at Tulloch Castle above in Inverness. This time we will be saying at Arith Castle close to Stirling.
