My daughter is planning a wedding on Friday, 10/19/2024 at Auckland Castle. Does anyone know the itinerary for Scotland at that time? I’m wondering if I’m able to fit the wedding in either during a tour or bookend a tour as near the wedding date as possible. Thanks!
I don’t think Scotland has a National Itinerary. You can come and go as you please.
Here's the webpage for the RS Scotland Tours. https://www.ricksteves.com/tours/scotland
Presumably the OP meant to ask whether there was a RS tour running at that time. This evening even the 2023 tours page, at least for Scotland, seems to be down.
You do realise that Aukland Castle is in County Durham and not Scotland?
PS- Rick has 2 Scottish tours that end on 13 October, so that you would leave you nearly a week to fill.
my mistake, it’s Auchen Castle in Scotland. Thank you for replies. maybe i’ll look into the Greece tours and add on a side trip to Auchen Castle for the wedding.
I've just googled Auchen Castle, that's one I hadn't heard of, near Moffat. Looks a very nice place. I must have been past it hundreds of times without knowing.
I see you are also from Missouri. My daughter will also get married in a castle in England in June of 2024. We have family in England and so this was an easy choice for us. (They got married in St, Louis at Christmas so all legal requirements are done).
I think you have a number of choices for a tour before or after the Wedding date. However, I would want to be in the local area for the few days leading up to the Wedding. You never know if there could be transportation issues (Flights cancellations, train strikes, or weather-related problems). That late in October that far North the evenings will be dark and fog/rain could be an issue.
Hello, fellow Missourian! congratulations on the wedding in June, travel safe thank you for the tip!
