Open markets in Edinburgh/Tartan parade/music

Planning a trip to Edinburgh the first week of May 2026 for just 4 days. I see there is the Castle Street Market, the Grassmarket, and the Stockbridge Market. I would be looking for local handmade gifts/souvenirs, music, and good eats. Which Market would be best? Or are they close in proximity to hit up all three? Or should we plan on touring the Castle and hitting up the Castle St Market on a weekday? I also see the Tartan parade will probably be on Sat the 9th. What can people tell me about that? I would love to make it to some Highland Games, but it looks like they don't start that early in May, or they are far from Edinburgh and we won't have time to travel [we will be limited to train/bus/walking). A certain walking tour? Any advice on what is worth prioritizing?

Any recommendations for clean and frugal places to stay around Edinburgh? There will be 3 adults. Thanks everyone!

The Gourock Highland Games should be on Sunday 10 May. Gourock is just under 2 hours by train from Edinburgh, change at Glasgow.
The Battery Park, where they are held, is certain!y scenic, being at the Tail o' the Bank where the River Clyde becomes the Clyde Estuary. Traditionally the first games of the season, highly recommended.
Next year will only be the second Tartan Parade, so no one has been to one in Edinburgh, as opposed to NYC, yet.
