On Mull

We made it to Mull on the ferry with fortunately no issue. Then it took a long time to get to our airbnb with so much sheep traffic and photo opportunities ;)

We are heading to Broadford on Skye on Monday and have a 3 pm ferry crossing from Mallaig. I am now second guessing myself and think we should either take the later crossing from Mallaig or drive the bridge so we have more flexibility. We are coming from NW Mull so drive to Fishnish ferry is probably an hour. We love to stop ;)

Any thoughts?

Having just looked at the booking system I am amazed to see that there is still car capacity on the 3pm and 5pm sailings from Mallaig on Monday. I would be even more surprised if that was still the case on Monday.
The forecast for Monday is to be a bit fresh, but nothing that should stop the Tobermory to Kilchoan ferry running.

I know which is why I was I am second guessing myself ;) I know you suggest not taking the last ferry and it makes sense but it seems rushed to take 3 pm. The drive all the way round across the bridge doesn't seem to be too much longer?

An hour to ferry on Mull and then hopefully get the 10.00ish am ferry which leaves about 4 hours before getting to Mallaig and the ferry. Yesterday we took close to 2 hours to get to our Airbnb as weather was beautiful and all that traffic :)

If you are thinking of adding in time I'm always surprised that no one ever turns left at Lochaline to go to the end of the motor road at Drimnin.

I'm not sure if that would be breaking new ground for the forum. It's many years since I was down there, but still remember it as a really nice side trip.

Look at the West Highland Peninsulas website for what is down that road- more than you might expect, including an Organic distillery.
There used to be a handy wee foot ferry over from Tobermory to Drimnin but that has gone, before the pandemic.

I am at least happy that the ferry situation, touching a lot of wood, seems to be stable currently.
