The NC500 drive is a tourist board driven marketing tool to get more tourist pounds in. And I hope it is as successful as possible. It takes you through some of the most impressive, yet remote bits of mainland Scotland.

It was dreamt up by visitscotland and the Scottish Government. But, sometimes those tourist traps are exactly what is needed.

Go for it!

I've done a good part of this drive and it is wonderful. Try to leave yourself enough time to stop and enjoy some sights. Try to get out to Cape Wrath for example. Check out the Inverewe Gardens. Go to the museum at Bettyhill. Just stop and enjoy the views.
