North Berwick Tulip Festival

For anyone staying in Edinburgh in Spring, North Berwick has a Tulip Festival from March to May every year. This year is the fourteenth such festival.

This is in addition to the Scottish Seabird Centre and the other attractions of the town.

There are nearly 50 varieties around the town planted in tubs and beds, and there is a festival map showing their locations.

I was there yesterday (so still early season) and the displays I saw were very colourful. This was not the purpose of my visit, that being just changing buses, having been to Dirleton then on my way to Dunbar, Haddington and Musselburgh (in a packed day) so had little time to follow the trail properly.

North Berwick is easy to reach, having an hourly train service and three buses an hour. The buses are part of the Lothian buses network so are included in the city ticketing scheme. I had an £8.50 day ticket for all buses as far as Dunbar, all Edinburgh city services and trams (both except into the Airport).
