Delta is the airline of choice for me and the best way of getting out of town. Looking at the Edinburgh airport website for nonstop flights I found that Delta will have a NONSTOP from JFK beginning in May of 2016!!
I don't see how that is a non-stop from Atlanta. Your title builds up hope for those in the Atlanta area and is a little misleading. Maybe this is good news for anyone flying out of or through JFK?
Here's the link to Delta about that news: http://news.delta.com/delta-virgin-offer-new-routes-across-atlantic. I was also pleased to see a non-stop out of Salt Lake City to London Heathrow starting in May. That may be useful for me in the future.
I just checked the prices...for a roundtrip in the summer flying out from JFK on a Tues, Wed or Thursday and back midweek the next week or two weeks later.....$1700+ for economy! WOW as in WAY TOO HIGH (priced).
United Continental has had direct service to Edinburgh via Newark for several years now.
United Continental....also 1800+ roundtrip from NYC area. I find a much cheaper solution using Google flights without nonstops but if there is a stop you risk losing luggage that you might have to check. So, I guess you pay no matter what.
