New hotel/restauarant open in Portree with rooms available

bmccarthy97 posted a review of a new restaurant and hotel on the Scotland Reviews page. It just opened in Portree and is called Fraser's Restaurant (at the Bracken Hide). It sounds very nice and so I made a reservation for dinner during my stay. https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/scotland-reviews/new-restaurant-in-portree-isle-of-skye-april-2023

But they also have cabins available for booking (see description below). When I checked the calendar, the ones for May are all booked up but they have a decent number of openings in June, July and August. I'm assuming it's because they have only been open for a week. So I thought if anyone needed a room still, they might want to check these out. According to the website, the cabins start at £150 and go up depending on the dates and cabin. https://www.brackenhide.co.uk/stay

45 luxury en-suite cabins, scattered across the landscape, peaceful and private yet good parking and everything you need just at hand – who could resist? We have dog friendly cabins, more accessible cabins – all of which have stunning views, underfloor heating, power showers and really comfy beds. Let us make your stay blissful, you will never want to stay anywhere else!

looks good... I'd hoped for self catering but it looks like you're likely at their restaurant

I’m highly interested in reviews of the hotel
/ pods. There seem to be a lot of potential pros and cons. I’m looking forward to the unique nature of this stay and the newness of the facilities. Feels like this could either be absolutely amazing or totally off the mark and perhaps weather is that difference?. Will mud and midges be hard to keep out of my my pod? Will I regret not staying in close walking distance of Portree businesses/restaurants beyond the one restaurant onsite? Will the sauna be crowded and or a cold, long walk back to my pod? Are the showers super small? This is 4 star and I wonder how it differs from their Cow Shed pods. How is the breakfast? Will I have a completely enjoyable and memorable stay that is unlike all the other typical hotels?

It looks nice from the road, but it's certainly a long walk from Portree centre and uphill all the way. Not what I would consider walking distance to any other restaurants. The pods are pretty close together. It's been a construction site since pre pandemic but seems to be coming together nicely now. I just wonder how noisy it might be as there seem to be a lot of pods.

Mardee, thanks for posting this. I will make reservations, too. Menu sounds delicious! How long will you be in Portree/Skye and are you booking reservations for every night you are there? There are 4 of us, and I have booked reservations at Rosedales, and I am waiting to hear back from The Harbour in Broadford. I am also considering Edinbane Inn, but non-residents can't make reservations until 2 weeks prior. I like the menu at Lower Deck but they don't take reservations and I am concerned about how long the wait could be.

kmkwoo, I will be on Skye (and staying in Portree) for 4 nights - from May 14-18. So far I have only made 2 reservations for dinner - one at this restaurant and one at Dulse & Brose. I did make a lunch reservation at Antlers Bar & Grill on one day. I'm leaving my first night open - the Skye music festival ends the night before I get in but I heard there might be some live music the next evening (when I get there) so I might try and track that down. I would also like to get into the Edinbane Inn but am waiting for the two week period. They used to have music there and I'm hoping they still do.

You get there after me, right?

FYI, I just checked Google for reviews and so far there are three; all thumbs up.

Mardee, Thanks for the link to the reviews! Sounds awesome!
We arrive in Edinburgh on May 30, and we will be in Portree for 4 nights in June. Can't wait!
