New American Air flights to EDI

American will start flying nonstop from JFK in NY to EDI (Edinburgh) on March 8.

It will be the first scheduled international route on the new Airbus 321XLR. (That's a single aisle plane.)

In September, American operated 42 training flights between Philadelphia and Edinburgh so its Airbus A320 check pilots could get experience flying over the Atlantic. FAA examiners were on board the otherwise empty aircraft.

These check pilots will now train other Airbus A320 pilots for these flights.

Before anyone asks, flying an Airbus A320 and an Airbus 321 is basically the same. The only difference is performance data.
