Need Help With Itinerary, pretty please.

Our last time in Scotland we were only there for six days. Three in Stirling and three in Edinburgh. We are returning this Fall. This is what I'm thinking. Some reservations are already made. (27 total nights)
Edinburgh - 3 nights
Glasgow - 3 nights
Pitlochry - 4 nights (non refundable reservations made)
Inverness/Lochness - 3 nights
Oban - 3 or 4 nights
Then needing a stop between Oban and Liverpool since it is such a long way. Was thinking Carlisle?
Liverpool - 2 or 3 nights (we were in Liverpool before and did the Magical Mystery Bus Tour and The Beatle Story.)
Telford, England - 2 nights - Ironbridge Gorge
We need to go to Ibswich one night to visit family right before London. Then London for just two nights, then we fly home.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Carlisle is perfectly OK - it's a large town with all amenities, including a castle.

That said, if I were that close I would be inclined to drive a little further south and stay in the Lake District, either at Keswick, or if you want somewhere more rural and quiet, Glenridding at the far end of Ullswater (road goes past Aira Force near where Dorothy Wordsworth noted the daffodils that brother William turned into "I wandered lonely as a cloud....etc.") is a splendid spot. Plenty of B&Bs around there I'm sure, and a couple of - variable, but OK for an overnight stop in my experience - hotels. To enter the Lake District turn off the M6 near Penrith.

You can continue through the Lake District down to Kendal where, just beyond, you can reconnect with the M6 which will take you south towards motorways to Liverpool.

Connecting to Ipswich will be a long day from the west side of England - Ipswich is in the east and is poorly served by motorways. I'm assuming you'll have a sat nav? If not careful planning is required.

Hope you have a great trip.

Oban to Liverpool is indeed a long, long drive. We drove Lancaster to Inveraray in one day -- with a couple of stops in the Lake District -- and it was fairly exhausting. If you're determined to do it in one day, I can recommend stopping in Inveraray for a cup of tea at Brambles. Then, at the southern end of Loch Lomond you'll come to a hotel & restaurant called Duck Bay where you could have lunch. The restaurant has a commanding view of the loch. Once you cross the Erskine Bridge heading into Glasgow you'll be on the Motorway and there are a few rest areas along the route. One more place I can recommend a stop is Penrith. It has an easy-to-find pay & display public parking lot around the corner from the high street, where there are a few nice pubs including Narrowbar.

Before you leave Oban, it seems to me that your route around Scotland is rather zigzaggy. I would have suggested you leave Edinburgh and go directly to Pitlochry, then Inverness, then Oban, and save the 3-night stay in Glasgow to break up the journey down to Liverpool -- but I see you've already got nonrefundable booking scheduled after the 3-night stay in Glasgow.
