National Trust of Scotland vs Heritage Explorer Pass

Hello,
So I have been on both of these websites which both are great use BUT which one should I invest in? Can you do the National Trust membership as a US citizen? It appears that the National Trust covers more? I have the PDF from the historic explorer pass which does have some of the items on my list to do. Is there any personal experience with these?"

Thanks

You need to work out which places you want to visit which will hopefully lead you to one or the other. The Heritage Pass is the Scottish equivalent of English Heritage - their properties tend to be much older than the NT properties, such as castles and ruins. Many of the NT properties are in their portfolio as they have had interesting owners and it is the owners that are of as much interest as the properties themselves. The NT have more gardens.

You can get overseas NT membership.
