Nairn

I’ll be driving from Pitlochry via Aviemore and on to Nairn. Is Nairn worth visiting and any suggestions on where to stay for 2 people. We are happy with a one bedroom accommodation.
Thank you

Do a search on this forum. I know one poster recommends a place in Nairn.

Here it is
Instead of staying in Inverness, may I suggest Nairn, about half an hour to the east -- just the other side of the Culloden Battlefield and Cawdor Castle. It's a walkable town with a nice marina on the Moray Firth. There are many B&Bs in Nairn; among them I can recommend Tali Ayer. https://www.tali-ayer.com/

Nairn suddenly appeared on the tourist radar a few years ago when it was awarded a best beach award or something simialr. It is popular with people who don't want to stop in Inverness. It is a small laid back town. Have a look here for pictures and information.

Tammy has alreasdy mentioned Culloden Battlefield Close by are Clava Cairns which are believed to be the inspiration for Craig na Dun in the very popular TV series ’Outlanders’. Try and plan a visit for easrly morning or late afternoon when they will be quieter (and the light better too!)

If you are looking for walks then check out Culbin Sands. It has been one of our go to spots for walks when the rain is pouring down in the West. You can walk along the beach and see lots of water birds and seals. It is lovely.

As the person quoted above by diveloonie as having recommended Nairn, I can say we enjoyed it. We chose to stay there partly because of a family connection, but also because it's known for having the warmest, driest climate in Scotland (which isn't saying much, but it was mild and sunny when we were there). It's a regular working town, not touristy, but tidy and attractive with a relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed strolling, especially around the marina.

Our B&B hosts were very friendly and helpful, the property was beautiful, and the breakfast buffet was delicious. Our dinner at the restaurant called The Classroom was superb.
