Hi - any experience with closures in the months of October and November in Inner Hebrides? I see that Fingal's cave is closed late October but does any one have any experience with pubs, shops etc? Ferry's seem to have a pretty robust schedule. Not expecting/wanting a full tourist experience (which is why we are looking at Mull in late fall) but neither do we want to see many "closed for the season" signs. We'll trade a few signs for fires in fire places and warm pubs. Thanks!
Highly unlikely shops and pubs will be closed, after all they serve the local community as well as visitors. Some B & B's may be closed. Ferries are the commuter buses for the Isles; the Calmac ferry from Oban may run late in heavy weather but it takes a major tempest for it not to run. Yes, you could get heavy weather in October. Or you could get warm, sunny days and clear skies.
