Hi,, I'm interested in shipping my bike from Washington State to Edinburgh and doing a motocamping trip following Rick Steve's Scotland itinerary. Does anyone have any guidance and advice for doing such a trip?

Hi from fellow Washingtonian. I've been to Scotland a couple of times and although I don't ride I have friends that do and it looks like there is quite a community of Bikers in Scotland and there several recommended Campgrounds online. Also there are some current trip videos. Unless you don't mind riding in the rain I would go between April to September. Wear water-resistant gear just like home.
The weather patterns are more changeable than the PNW with clouds passing quickly with sunbreaks and then clouds again. Winter can be cold and clear but the daylight hours are short because the latitude is like Panhandle Alaska. Be aware that the DWI laws are severe in Scotland, so only drink after you have stopped for the night...you don't know who may be on watch.
