Need advice on the best route to make the most of our drive from Oban to Broadford (location of lodging).
I would recommend arriving on Skye via the ferry from Mallaig, but you would need to book in advance via Calmac
I agree with Skyegirl. That route will take you past some beautiful scenery to Mallaig. Make sure you allot enough time to stop at the various places along the way.
Taking the ferry over is also really a nice experience. It's about a 45 minute ride, and I loved sitting outside on the deck and watching the sea. Driving a car onto the ferry is very easy, and you are well directed by Calmac employees. But as Skyegirl said, you do need to book ahead. https://calmac.co.uk/summer-timetables/mallaig-armadale
