Looking for an interesting base with some character/history etc. to stay where lodging and eating are close to each other.
Just a bit north of the direct route between the two, but Stirling (and it’s striking castle), and a tad farther north is smaller, charming Doune (with it’s own wonderful castle.
Hi, b.merritt326,
Falkirk would be a good choice. Good accommodation choices, lots of restaurants, and close to the Falkirk Wheel, the Kelpies, Callander House, and the Antonine Wall. You can walk for miles along the towpath for the Forth and Clyde Canal, and watch the houseboats as they travel from lock to lock.
Slainte!
