Monsoon During Pitlochry Highland Games

We're back from our trip but I'm curious as to whether anyone else on this forum went to the Highland Games in Pitlochry during the monsoon. Ok, well, maybe not a monsoon in Scotland but that's what another Scot called it - and it sure was awful. The reason I ask is that someone spotted my husband wearing his Oregon Beaver cap and waved at him. He waved back but couldn't understand anything they said. Anyway, I'm just curious if there was another Beaver Believer there at the same time we were. We felt badly for the games organizers and participants. So much work for them. We were disappointed as well and left early, slogging back to the car through the mucky field with our inside-out umbrella. (BTW, this was the worst weather day of our trip. We lucked out with pretty decent weather most of the 21 days - except for the drive around the Trotternish peninsula on Skye - wouldn't you just know it!)

You did well if you only had two days of impossible weather! I will always remember the year the storms knocked out the water system north of Inverness and we had no water for at least two days at our hotel in Strathpeffer. And we were walking! So, we really, really, really wanted a shower! I took pictures of Scottish Water every time I saw one of their trucks. Heck, I would probably still take a picture of a Scottish Water truck. :) You should post on TripAdvisor too if you don't hear from someone here!

Not this year , but late last October , we were trapped in our hotel in Glasgow on a Sunday with just that kind of weather ( looked like a Maine Nor'easter ) The climax was watching a chair literally flying through the air down Sauchiehall Street

We were in Edinburgh at that time. It was a wet rainy time! We also traveled to the Isle of Skye and had some rainy days. Usually it would rain, then clear, then rain again! We lucked out during our three weeks in Scotland to only have a few days of rain, the sky is a beautiful shade of blue in the highlands!

How lucky were we last year? Two weeks in Scotland from Sept 21-Oct 5 and we had one rain day- driving from Oban to York, and a lot of sunny days and a few cloudy days here and there. Rained a night a few times...... but that was it. I wish we would have spend more than 1 night in Pitlochry.
