Military Tattoo - Edinburgh tickets

We are in Edinburgh Aug 7th and 8th, however, the military tattoo is totally sold out online. Only tickets are 200. each and with two kids not sure we'd get the value of the dinner/experience ;-)

Is there any place to purchase tickets other than through the website i.e. ebay or anything similar? I know often other agencies buy up some of the tickets. Really wanted to take in the experience.

You may be out of luck this year. But I have suggestion which may be a better option for you. Scottish Highland games feature piping, dancing, and various athletic feats. And there are some games going on in August. You might find that you and your kids might enjoy the variety and the community aspect of some of the games.

I've made ten trips to Scotland and not yet made it to the Tattoo. I'd like to go someday, but I think that the Games might actually be more fun. I've been to Highland Games in the US in Chicago and at Stone Mountain in Atlanta. They were great fun.

I'm with Pamela, Highland Games are very fun. Been to some here but would love to go to one in Scotland. As much as I'd love the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, I think Highland Games would be much more fun. Especially for your kids.

No! Highland games and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo are two different experiences. Highland games are fun, but they are not the Tattoo! That being said $200 / person is probably not worth it for the kids. They would problably enjoy Highland games.
There is no experience that compares with the arrival of the massed bands marching out of the main gate of Edinburgh Castle!

Hey! I don't think I said that they were the same experience! The only other Tattoo that I know about in Scotland, though, is in Fort George in September. The similarity is that you will hear lots of piping. Both are quintessential Scottish experiences.

Heyo! I would contact the Tatoo folks directly and talk to them. Tickets can only be returned to the office and then possibly repurchased. That being said, if this is a once in a lifetime trip, depending on the age of your children, I would make it happen if possible. My husband and I will never forget being at the tatoo. It was an amazing and emotional experience. Truly a remarkable evening!

michaeltipton... obviously they are different experiences, no one said they weren't.

Both would be fantastic! But if the Tatoo is not possible, Highland Games are a great alternative.
