Hello. My husband and I are traveling to Scotland in September for three weeks. We are looking to purchase medical travel insurance prior to our trip. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good company. We don’t want the cancel for any reason type insurance just medical insurance an d emergency evacuation if necessary Thanks for your help.

Although I have (thankfully) never needed it, I get emergency medical and evacuation insurance with Squaremouth Tin Leg. Very reasonable without any of the travel interruption options.

I use squaremouth.com to compare different policies from a variety of companies. You can customize (to a point) what features and amounts you are looking for, and compare them side by side and also read the fine print on each. That's been my go-to site for a number of years.

Travel insurance plans offered vary by your state of residence.
I use Insure My Trip to compare policies. They have been excellent answering my questions via chat, phone or email. For an upcoming trip they were able to suggest medical travel insurance plans with pre-existing conditions waiver that did not require insuring the full cost of our trip (our travel credit card covers delay, interruption, cancellation, ...) saving us several hundred dollars.
Full disclosure, we have fortunately never made a claim.

We used Travel Insured International in 2025 for our trip to Scotland, which I purchased on Squaremouth. Once we both turned 75, our insurance costs almost doubled.
My wife got sick and spent 5 days in hospital, which extended our trip. Once we got the £2550 NHS bill, which I had to pay first, TII reimbursed me right away.
It took an extra 2 months to assemble and submit the additional information they wanted. Their forms asked for additional expenses beyond our original leave date. However, they only covered the additional expense for the flight home. This was what was specified in the contract conditions. After rereading the contract language, I was satisfied with the reimbursement.
Their medical advisor, "Robin Assist", was great at informing me what I would need for the claim, i.e. medical diagnosis, doctor's order fit-to-travel, etc.
