Lunch Recommendations

I can’t think of a single spot that would meet the criteria “lunch spot with a view”. My go to spot is always the Dundreggan Rewilding centre but that nits about the food or the view but the wonderful walks in the rewilded landscape. The food is good but more snacks and cakes.

Another really good lunch spot is the Midge Bite at Achnasheen but again more snack lunch food and no view from the cafe

Finally I really like the Croft cafe at Duirnish about 5 miles from Kyle of Lochalsh.

If you are crossing to Skye using the small turntable ferry from Glendale to Kylerhea then The Glenelg Inn has a nice garden and the views to they ferry are amazing. Decent food too.

Hotels. There aren’t many. It all depends on your budget! B&B could be another option. Also it depends where on the island you want to base yourself. It’s slow to get around and the island is bigger than many expect.

Ooh and for a guide I’d recommend Skye Geography Tours if you’re happy to go off the beaten track and walk to stunning and less discovered areas.

I have so many questions. Is there a way to make this private?

If you are prepared to drive the longer route to Skye via Invergarry, I can recommend the lovely Glengarry Castle hotel.It’s a bit pricey for lunch but a lovely environment and you can walk down through their woodland garden grounds to lonely Loch Oich.In October, the colours will be wonderful and most likely you will hear red deer stags roaring across the loch, during the rut.

On Skye itself (depending on how far north you are headed) then I particularly like Am Praban bar which is part of the pretty Hotel Eilean Iarmain.Beautiful location though you won’t get a direct view from the bar (superb seafood and venison) but you are right by the sea loch there so plenty of opportunity to stroll there before or after.There is a nice small Art Gallery there too.

An Crubh is a community shop and cafe which does some really nice light lunch options with lovely views over to the mainland mountains across the sea. It sits high off the road, a little inland and isn’t too far from Am Praban.

As Skyegirl says, hotel does depend on your budget! It would be good to get an indication of what suits in that regard.

On the way in we stopped and had lunch at Gasta - Broadford. Don’t remember much about a view but the parking lot was full so it couldn’t be too bad. Well it did not disappoint, the wife had the Skye Smokehouse Salmon Bagel and exclaimed it was hands down the best she has ever had. Our only regret was we didn’t stop in on the way out. As for hotels we stayed at the Marmalade Hotel and could not recommend.
