My husband and I will be traveling from Edinburgh to Stirling by train, toring the castle and then traveling on to Glasgow. Is there a place where we can store our luggage before touring Stirling Castle? I have read that there were lockers at the bus station but that they have been removed. The information is old and there doesn't seem to be any current discussion of this topic. I would be grateful to anyone who knows the answer.
Check the hostels online. I forgot which, but I saw that one of them stores non-resident luggage for a fee. (We were looking as well, but are now staying overnight in Stirling, so hoping we can leave at our inn past checkout).
Thank you so much. I’ll give that a try.
Hi, desertgal,
The Willy Wallace hostel appears to be the only place in Stirling for left luggage. It's 5 pounds per bag, which is extortionate, but it may be the only game in town. At least it's on the way to the castle. Check out their website for more information.
To get to the hostel, go straight across from the train station to Station Road. You have to cross Goosecroft Road, but there's a traffic light and crosswalk there. Go straight up Station Road to Murray Place. There will be a Scottish restaurant (McDonald's) and a Caledonian Bank on your left. Find a safe place to cross over to the west side of Murray Place. I think that there is another traffic light there.
Turn right on Murray Place, and the hostel is just a few doors up. It's a dire looking place from the outside, but the inside is pleasant and clean.
The easiest way to get to the castle is to make a left from the hostel, then your first left at the Oxfam shop and up the pedestrian street past the shops. At the top, turn right on to Baker Street, go a couple of streets to Bank Street, turn left on Bank, go one street over and turn right on St. John. That'll take you directly to the castle.
Slainte!

p.s.: If you're staying at chain hotels in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and they have a branch near the train station in Stirling, you could ask if they could extend the courtesy of letting you leave your luggage in Stirling while you wander about.
Thanks to all who replied. I apprecate all of this helpful information.
This may be a little late, but you can find storage options in Stirling at www.stasher.com
I'm using the site for the first time later this week in Edinburgh. I also came across another site www.Bagbnb.com, but there was no location in Stirling.
Good luck!
