Heads up....I'm on a scotland tour with RS this summer and last week got cancelled for flight by Lufstanza with full refund but no offer to help rebooking. Was told they are cutting many flights till October due to fuel crisis. I'm out of Chicago O'Hara airport. Oh well. Now on United.

I’m surprised you booked with Lufthansa to begin with as United has a seasonal nonstop flight from Chicago to Edinburgh. Unless you were booked on a Lufthansa flight that was to be operated by United.
Good luck! At least you have plenty of time to book an alternate flight.

How was Lufthansa (or any of their subsidiaries) ever part of a route from Chicago to Scotland, there would be a huge double back! Apart from a direct flight, Icelandair or possibly Aer Lingus would have been more efficient.

Sorry you've been tossed around by Lufthansa and United.
You can't blame Lufthansa for the fuel crisis. And they are not the only ones cancelling and consolidating flights due to the fuel shortage.
