Looking for suggestions 3 days in the Highlands with No Car. August.

Hello,
I have searched the forums and can't really find what I am looking for. My wife and I will arrive in Glasgow Monday Aug 6 and must be in Edinburgh on Thursday Aug 9 in the early afternoon. I am thinking of heading out of Glasgow the next morning.

We'd love to see nature and history. I know that it's short but we'd like to maximize the time without running around like crazy people. And, we'd like to not rent a car. Would we be best to train to one place for a couple of nights and venture out from there? We're relatively young and would be into hiking and good food, but are open to just about anything. We also do not want to miss any must sees. Any help would be most welcome. Thank you in advance!

Take the train to Oban. Spend your time here. You can take the 3 Island day tour offered by West Coast Tours and see the islands of Mull, Iona, and Staffa. Very interesting. The puffins at Staffa are quite the experience.
