My wife and I would like to travel to Scotland and stay for a two to three months.
We would prefer to rent a furnished apartment or small house.

I had similar ambitions, and I found some options on VRBO and AirB&B, but the prices were nearly daiiy hotel prices, so I gave up. Carigslist has an occasional listing.
