We will be taking the train from London to Edinburgh the end of May. I would like to take the sleeper train, but my husband does not want to miss the scenic countryside. Any ideas, we need a tie breaker. Thanks
Most of the scenery is in the first hour, then it's not dull, but nothing spectacular. I speaking about the East Coast ride. If your husband wants some spectacular train rides in Scotland, here are some suggestions. :)
- Edinburgh to Inverness
- Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh
- Fort William to Mallalg
Those are my favorites. :)

Welcome themays,
I took the fast train when I was there and I took me approximately
4 hours but that was a morning train.
The scenery was so so. I was more interested in the train.
Happy trails
The scenery gets better past Edinburgh in my opinion. I don't sleep well on trains, so it isn't my first choice, but it wouldn't make my top five of train rides we have taken over the years.
